Saurav Ghosal, the lone Indian challenge at the British Open Squash Championships, bowed out of the event with a straight-game loss to eighth seed Stewart Boswell in the opening round at Manchester.

Ghosal, the only Indian to make the main draw after Ritwik Bhattacharya and Joshna Chinappa were ousted in the qualifiers, went down 8-11 3-11 9-11 to the Australian in 37 minutes.

Oswell will now take on Malaysian Ong Beng Lee, who beat Welshman Alex Gough 8-11 11-5 11-9 10-12 11-9 in a thrilling encounter which lasted 69 minutes.

The 21-year-old Ghosal, who is a reigning national champion, recently received the Arjuna award making him the first squash player in a decade to be bestowed the honour.
