Australian fast bowler Glen McGrath said he would not consider himself a greater bowler than his compatriot Dennis Lillee even if he overhauls his wicket tally of 355. McGrath now has 350 wickets. He says he is capable of posing a threat to Courtney Walsh's tally of 519 if he can keep himself fit for a few more years. 8 persons were arrested in Goa on Sunday following a police tip off for betting on the fourth Ashes Test going on in England. The accused hail from Kholapur district in Maharashtra. Cash and mobile phones were recovered from the accused. Police are probing their links with Mumbai's bookies. 
India in Sri Lanka The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has refused to send out a replacement to Sri Lanka in the place of the injured Srinath who returned home. The BCCI opined that there were only two Tests to go and that the team would have to manage with the 15 players who were there. BCCI secretary JY Lele said replacements could be flown out immediately if required.
Sri Lankan all-rounder Suresh Perera who has been reported to the ICC by umpire Steve Bucknor for a suspect action has been included in the side for the second Test. Perera was not bowled by Jayasuriya in the Indian second innings. A decision on whether to play him or not will be taken on the day of the match.

Miscellaneous Yet another Aboriginal youth squad from Australia will tour England in a bid to retrace the famous tour undertaken by their ancestors in 1868. The team at that time played 47 matches over a period of six months and even displayed their skills at spear and boomerang throwing. One of the team members King Cole reportedly died of pneumonia on the tour. More than a hundred years later memories of that historic tour are being rekindled. The team will also visit the Lords Museum, that houses an Aboriginal shield said to have been used by one of 1868 players named Dick-a-Dick.
The BCCI yesterday denied reports circulating in the media that it had made an offer to lift former skipper Mohammad Azharuddin's life ban if he assured the Board he would have nothing to do with cricket. A London newspaper carried the report of the same and Indian Board officials vehemently denied all speculations of such an offer. Stephen Fleming will lead a 12-member squad to Pakistan to play 3 one-day internationals next month. Another two players will be added to the team later after the selectors consider the performances of the New Zealand A side currently touring India. The full team is as follows: Stephen Fleming, Nathan Astle, James Franklin, Chris Harris, Craig McMillan, Kyle Mills, Dion Nash, Jacob Oram, Mathew Sinclair, Daryl Tuffey, Daniel Vettori and Lou Vincent. Australia is all set and ready to pull off yet another blockbuster Test win over the hapless English in the fourth Ashes Test at Headingly. After gaining a first innings lead of 138, the Aussies rattled up 176-4 in 39.3 overs before declaring their innings and thus setting the home side a target of 314 runs for victory on the last day.
West Indies completed the formalities by winning the third and final match of the three match series against Kenya at Nairobi yesterday.
Former India all-rounder Robin Singh dismissed claims circulating in the media of his retiring from international cricket and said he was still capable of making a comeback. The 38-year old Singh said the youngsters of the current team might have got their places in the side easily and hence lack the motivation. Robin Singh said age should not be a criterion for selection if the player was performing.
