India in Zimbabwe India won its third match in a row in the tri-nation Coca-Cola Cup series at Bulawayo. Chasing West Indies' modest total of 169, the Indians initially made heavy weather of the target, but later thanks to man of the match Sachin Tendulkar's unbeaten 81, they were able to win rather easily by six wickets. Today the West Indies takes on Zimbabwe at Bulawayo. A win for the former will mean a place in next Saturday's final. The home team, however has an outside chance, if they beat the West Indies by a big margin in today's game and hope that India too beat the Windies again on Wednesday. This scenario would allow them to pip the West Indies on a better net run-rate. 
The Ashes tour The Australians opted for batting practice in their match against Essex at Chelmsford despite taking a huge lead of 174 runs. The home team was dismissed for 231. While, Jamie Foster and Graham Napier made half-centuries, England captain Nasser Hussain, who was making an appearance in this match after his finger injury he suffered during the Lord's Test match against Pakistan in May, failed. He made just 16 runs. The visitors in their second knock were 155-1 at close of play, with Matthew Hayden unbeaten on 82. Miscellaneous Former Indian wicket-keeper Nayan Mongia appeared for the winning team in an event called the Weekend of Legends at Nottingham yesterday. A match between two sides named Sir Richard Hadlee XI and the Sir Garfield Sobers XI, was played to raise money to rebuilt the Trent Bridge pavilion. Incidentally both Sobers and Hadlee were former Nottinghamshire overseas players. The Hadlee XI won the match by seven wickets. The scores: Sir Garfield Sobers XI 166/6 and Sir Richard Hadlee XI 167/3 (28.5 ov). South African Gary Kirsten made an unbeaten 74 for the winners. As a part of the Weekend of Legends event a Masters match between England and Australia will be played today. The United States of America upset one of the favourites for the ICC Trophy, Ireland by six wickets at Toronto on Friday. After posting a total of 209, the Ireland bowlers failed to restrict the Americans as they coasted home easily with six wickets and 12.1 overs to spare. The US wicket-keeper batsman Mark Johnson made 54 runs with12 fours. In another match, Netherlands beat the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 90 runs. Former all-rounder Chandika Hathurasinghe has been recalled by the Sri Lankan selectors to join the squad of 22 players for the forthcoming one-day triangular tournament and the Test series against India and New Zealand. Also recalled are left-handed batsman Avishka Gunawardene, and pace bowlers Ruchira Perera and Dilhara Fernando. With these four players being inducted to the list of probables, in all 26 players are undergoing a training camp at Colombo under national coach Dave Whatmore.
