Lara hits 71, ready for Test action

Brian Lara has returned to match action for the first time in more than three months scoring 71 for his local club at the Queen's Park Oval against an English touring side.

The left-hander had been out of action since December after dislocating his elbow in a one-day game with Sri Lanka in Kandy.

Lara, looking ahead to the series with India, said: "The selectors will be selecting the team in a couple of days and they will be looking for some words from me. At this moment, I can give a positive answer."

He added, "The most important thing is that I'm in the process of getting back to 100 per cent fitness. It's going to be difficult but I am looking forward to playing. I am fit enough to play in a Test match."

The first Test starts in Guyana next Thursday.
