Lara recalled for Tests
against India

Brian Lara was recalled to the West Indies squad on Sunday for the first Test against India after recovering from an elbow injury.

The left-hander dislocated and fractured his elbow after colliding with a Sri Lankan fielder in December, but has proved his fitness in time to be named in the 13-man squad for the match in Georgetown starting on Thursday.

Wicketkeeper Junior Murray and opening batsman Stuart Williams were also recalled to the squad, Murray replacing Ridley Jacobs and Williams coming in for Daren Ganga.

Ryan Hinds was selected as a batting all-rounder instead of Jamaica's Garrett Breese.

Merv Dillon, Cameron Cuffy, the in-form Adam Sanford, who has taken 41 wickets this season, and Marlon Black were the four fast bowlers named in the squad.

The squad for the first two Tests:

Carl Hooper (captain, Guyana), Chris Gayle (Jamaica), Stuart Williams (Leeward Islands), Ramnaresh Sarwan (Guyana), Brian Lara (Trinidad and Tobago), Shivnarine Chanderpaul (Guyana), Ryan Hinds (Barbados), Junior Murray (Windward Islands), Mervyn Dillon (Trinidad and Tobago), Cameron Cuffy (Windward Islands), Adam Sanford (Leeward Islands), Marlon Black (Trinidad and Tobago), Mahendra Nagamootoo (Guyana).
