2nd Test - AhmedabadA wet outfield forced a late start to the match and the England openers -- Marcus Trescothick and Mark Butcher -- stroked their way to a position of strength with a 124-run partnership before Butcher fell to the guile of Anil Kumble. That wicket triggered a mini-batting collapse as England crumbled from 124-1 to 239-6 as Kumble continued his devastating form. Craig White was England's saviour, and in the company of James Foster guided England to safety.
