Zimbabwe 197-4 (44.2 overs) beat India 191 all out (48.3 overs) by six wickets.

Alistair Campbell and Douglas Hondo had superb games to give Zimbabwe their second victory of the series, in a comfortable win for the tourists at the Nehru Stadium.

The pressure now reverts back to India, 2-1 down in the series with two to play. And they were thoroughly outplayed on Wednesday.

Hondo celebrated his return to the Zimbabwean team with a four wicket-haul as the tourists dismissed India cheaply.

And left-handed opener Campbell then hit 71 as the Southern Africans recovered well from 39-2 to win with ease.

Craig Wishart sealed the win, hitting Dinesh Mongia for his second six in a short but decisive innings.

India's tour of West Indies

West Indies selectors have drafted in four new caps and recalled two players from the wilderness in a 22-strong squad named here for the forthcoming one-day and Test series' against India.

Opening batsman Devon Smith, off-spin all-rounder Gareth Breese, along with fast bowlers Adam Sanford and Darrell Powell are the four newcomers picked for the five Tests and five limited-overs internationals.

Opening batsman Stuart Williams and wicketkeeper-batsman Junior Murray, two players who have not featured in recent selections, have also been included in the squad that will be encamped in Trinidad between March 21 and 28.

Former West Indies captain Brian Lara and Ramnaresh Sarwan, two players who are fit again after recovering from injury, have been picked in the squad.

England in New Zealand

Nasser Hussain drew inspiration from Australia's Ricky Ponting as he rescued England with a battling century on day one of the first Test against New Zealand.

Hussain hit a defiant 106 - his 10th ton in 67 Tests - to help England recover to 228 all out after losing two wickets in the first over.

And he said watching Ponting score his 10th hundred to clinch a series win for Australia against South Africa the day before had spurred him on.

"I saw Ricky Ponting getting his 10th test hundred when I was watching the news and I thought 'It's about time you got your 10th'. That was a good omen.

Fast bowler Darren Gough hopes to be back in action by the end of next month following surgery on his right knee.

Gough underwent an operation to repair a small tear in a cartilage after injuring his knee during England's final one-day international in New Zealand.

He had not been selected for the Test series in any event after opting out of the pre-Christmas trip to India, but is determined to reclaim his place this summer.

"I'm doing fine. I have to ice it two or three times a day still, there's still a bit of swelling obviously.

"I'm determined to get back as soon as possible. I want to be playing again in five weeks," he said.

Australia in South Africa

Steve Waugh will be under pressure again when the third and final Test against South Africa starts at Kingsmead on Friday (March 15) just three days after leading Australia to what he described as one of the most satisfying wins of his Test captaincy career.

The 36-year-old Waugh has been a conspicuously successful leader of what is regarded as one of the best Australian teams of all time. They have won all five matches they have played against South Africa this season and will be seeking to complete a clean sweep, at home and away, against the side that is ranked second in the ICC Test Championship.

But Waugh's own poor form with the bat makes him vulnerable. He was subjected to several questions about the batting of himself and twin brother Mark after Australia's four-wicket win in the second Test at Cape Town

Match-Fixing

A Pakistan court has adjourned - until next month - an appeal by disgraced former captain Salim Malik against a life ban for match-fixing.

"Justice Karamat Bhandari has adjourned the hearing until April 30 as Pakistan Cricket Board lawyer Asgher Haider requested an adjournment as he was not prepared for the case," said a Lahore High Court official.

Malik was banned for life in May 2000 after a match fixing inquiry conducted by Justice Malik Mohammad Qayyum found enough evidence against him.

The PCB implemented Qayyum's recommendations and barred Malik from all international and first-class cricket and from holding any cricketing office.

Australian players Shane Warne, Tim May and Mark Waugh had alleged that Malik offered them bribes to under-perform during Australia's 1994-95 tour of Pakistan.

An Indian inquiry into match fixing in November 2000, which led to a ban on their former captain Mohammad Azharuddin for life, also found Malik guilty.

Former Pakistan superstar Imran Khan has criticised international cricket's governing body for allegedly failing to solve match-fixing and umpiring problems.

"The ICC (International Cricket Council) could not solve the problems (of match-fixing and umpire issues) in a proper manner ... It is an impotent body," said Imran.

The former Pakistani captain warned match-fixing is still a major blight on the modern game but admitted it is often difficult to prove.

The international cricket world was last year rocked by a series of scandals that ended the careers of several leading players from South Africa, India and Pakistan.

"I believe that there is match-fixing in cricket but it is very tough to prove unless there is instance like Hanse Cronje," he said, referring to the former South African captain who admitted match-fixing activities.
