From Springboks to Proteas

Bob Woolmer, former English cricketer and super coach, was the right man to back Cronje during those crucial years. They worked together as a team and revolutionised the way cricket was played. Woolmer, armed with his laptop, and Cronje, ever willing to try out new things, formed a deadly partnership. South African cricket had taken the quick way to the top.

Woolmer nursed the Proteas to a position of strength. They reached the semi-finals of the World Cup twice after their re-entry.

"You must go out and want to win; play attractive cricket and take the fear of failure away from your players," said Woolmer. His team took those words to heart.
