Steve Waugh scored 56 in the second innings of what will be his last Test at the Gabba.

It was his 49th half-century in Test cricket. He has 32 centuries to his name, only two short of Sunil Gavaskar's world record 34 centuries.

Australia declared their second innings at 284-3, setting India 199 runs in 23 overs.

India were 73-2 in 16 overs when play was called off and the match ended in a draw.
