Scorecard

Rahul Dravid reached his third fifty of the series in the post-lunch session of the Melbourne Test even as the Indians inched closer to the wiping the first innings deficit of 192 runs.

Earlier, India added 82 runs without losing a wicket during the first session of play on the fourth day.

India, who still trail by 83 runs, were 109 for two at lunch with Dravid on 38 and Sachin Tendulkar on 33. But it was not a morning without incident.

The bounce was varying, the ball keeping low at times and jumping up at others and it was very difficult to judge. One of these deliveries most probably foxed Sourav Ganguly.

The Indian skipper ducked into a Brad Williams bouncer in the fifth over of the morning and retired hurt after being hit on the back of the head.

After an examination by physio Andrew Leipus, Ganguly decided to go off the field, and this brought Tendulkar to the crease at 39 for 2.
