Opener Hannan Sarkar top-scored with 76 as Bangladesh reached a respectable 289 for 8 against Australia on Day 1 of the second Test, at the Bundaberg Rum stadium in Cairns, Australia, on Thursday.

"I think this was my best innings so far because I played confidently. We made 400 in our first Test against India (three years ago). After that this is our greatest day in Test cricket because it's against Australia," said Sarkar.
