BCCI to help ex-Test cricketers

December 17, 2004 21:12 IST

The Board of Control for Cricket in India said it will provide immediate financial assistance to needy ex-Test cricketers, including Mushtaq Ali and Vijay Hazare.

"We have already started helping needy cricketers. In fact, the Board has already released an ad-hoc amount of Rs two lakh for the treatment of ailing former Indian skipper Vijay Hazare and likewise we will surely help Mushtaq Ali as soon as he or his family gets in touch with us," a BCCI official told PTI at Mumbai on Friday.

"We can sanction upto Rs three lakh towards the treatment of ailing cricketers or an ad-hoc sum of Rs two lakh once the cricketer concerned or his family members contact us," the official added.
