Lankans face wet start to tour
November 25, 2005 17:23 IST
Sri Lanka's [Images] tour opener against the Board President's XI may be a non-starter, with Bangalore experiencing intermittent rains.
Sri Lanka captain Marvan Atapattu, who had a look at the Chinnaswamy stadium, said there may be no play on Saturday because of the wet ground conditions.
Over the past week, Bangalore has been experiencing intermittent showers.
The Lankans, who arrived in the city on November 23, were forced to practice indoors on yesterday and today, confining themselves to the National Cricket Academy.
"Hopefully, we will get two days of good practice," Atapattu said. "If the sun does not come out now, I don't think we will have play tomorrow."
The Board President's XI will be led by Y Venugopala Rao.
The Indian outfit has in its ranks Dheeraj Jadhav, Shikhar Dhawan, Robin Uthappa, S Sriram, Neeraj Patel, Parthiv Patel, Munaf Patel [Images], Amit Mishra, Ranadeb Bose, Gagandeep Singh and Kulamani Parida.
The first Test starts in Chennai on December 2.
