England's [Images] players were the target of spectators during the ongoing third and final Test at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai on Sunday.

"Andrew Flintoff [Images] and Matthew Hoggard [Images] told me that they were angry and hurt by it," former India wicketkeeper Farokh Engineer revealed on Monday.

"A certain section of the spectators abused the players and they felt very strong about it.

"Indian spectators, especially in Mumbai, are known to be very sporting, but they have let everyone down with this sort of behaviour," added Engineer, who is Flintoff's close friend.

It was also noticed that left-arm spinner Monty Panesar [Images] was also subject to some choice expletives when he fielded near the boundary ropes on Monday.

Mumbai's cricket fans have come under criticism from a few former players for booing Sachin Tendulkar [Images] as he back to the pavilion after being dismissed in India's first innings on Sunday.

English fans, however, are having a good time, what with their team having the upper hand in the Test.
