Another RJD minister quits
March 30, 2004 14:11 IST
Another Bihar minister quit on Tuesday after being denied a Rashtriya Janata Dal ticket to contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha election.
Minister of Food and Civil Supplies Purnamasi Ram quit from Chief Minister Rabri Devi's Cabinet after he was denied permission to contest from Bagha (reserved) constituency.
A defiant Ram said he would contest from Bagha 'come what may'. On Monday Cheddi Paswan resigned due to the denial of a ticket.
Reports said the RJD has decided to allot Bagha to the Lok Janashakti Party, headed by Ramvilas Paswan, as part of the seat sharing arrangement.
After quitting, Ram criticised Yadav for his autocratic style of functioning. Calling Laloo a liar, he said, "Yadav assured me that I would be the RJD nominee for Bagha. I even started working for the constituency in the right earnest but now the seat has been allotted to the LJP."
Ram said he would contest the elections from Bagha against the LJP contestant Hira Ram as a Bahujan Samaj Party nominee.
