Bobby's Second Coming

Ronjita Das

This won't the first time that he's cast singer Lucky Ali as the male lead for his film.

Bobby Khan's directorial debut Dum Dum Diga Diga also starred Lucky in the title role. But unfortunately, the film was shelved.

Lisa Ray That didn't deter the director who turned to music videos instead, Yaaro Sab Dooya Karo, being his biggest hit.

Now, however, he's back to his first love -- films with Kya Main Ab Bhi Tumse Pyaar Karta Hoon with Lucky Ali, Raveena Tandon and Lisa Ray.

Here's more on the second time debutante film director.

What made you choose Lucky Ali as the main lead?

I've known Lucky since we were kids. In 1996, I directed a film Dum Dum Diga Diga, with Lucky in the lead role which got shelved.

Besides, the script is made for Lucky. Music plays a very important role in the film. I think this is the best film as Lucky's launch film. Lucky sings four songs in the film. Besides him, Adnan Sami and Sonu Nigum are also singing here.

My brother Ahmed Khan will choreograph.

What is the film about?

It is a romantic film. Lucky plays his age -- as mature and dignified billionaire who owns many fashion boutiques all over the country. Lucky Ali

Besides this, he also owns a school for physically handicapped children. We will be shooting with 20 physically handicapped children. That will be quite a tedious job, as there will be blind and deaf children.

This film will give him a new look. We are so used to seeing Lucky in chappals and loose shirts. Now you will see him in suits. He looks very elegant in the film.

Will you continue doing music videos or will you concentrate on films now?

I was always a film director.

But I suffered a huge setback when Dum Dum Diga Diga didn't work out. That's when I started doing music videos. I was waiting for the right opportunity to come back to films. I didn't take on a single video shoot in the last nine months. I will concentrate on scripting and this film.

I won't stop doing music videos completely, but from now on it will only be for my company -- Bobby Khan productions.

High stakes are involved in the making of this film, so I want to give it my complete attention. I can't do too many things at a time, I always prefer doing one thing at a time.

Raveena Tandon Do you think your music video background will help in the making of this film?

Yes, it will. I can give the film a look, choose colours and locations according to the songs.

Tell us about the film locations.

Most of the shooting will be done in Canada. I want to give the film an international look. We'll be shooting in Mousoorrie, Delhi and Khandala too.

We were supposed to start shooting on July 15, with a 35-day non-stop schedule in Canada, but unfortunately, we couldn't.

I'm looking for a December release.
