What: Reliance [Get Quote] Infocomm Ltd and Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneshwar have jointly launched an e-learning platform to offer post graduate courses through virtual classrooms in over 110 cities through 240 Reliance WebWorld outlets.
"The virtual classrooms will be as good as the real ones, except that students will attend classes from WebWorlds, while professors would be taking classes sitting in other WebWorlds anywhere in the country," says Reliance Webworld chief executive officer Sarup Chowdhary.
The classes would be taken using the video conferencing mode with a broadbrand connectivity of over 756 Kbps.
Blueshift, a software and services provider, will coordinate and manage the programme.
Programme details
~ This is a Post Graduate Certificate Programme in Business Management.
~ The duration of programme is one year.
~ Classes will commence from July 1.
~ The course fee is around Rs 1.8 lakh (Rs 180,000).
~ The course will have convenient installment facilities.
~ There will be variable contact periods of 240, 260 or 300 hours.
~ The programme is divided into three terms.
~ You will have two classes in a week.
~ You will also have a week-long on-campus stay and interaction at XIMB, Bhubaneshwar.
XIMB director E Abraham said the partners would also introduce a Post-Graduate Certificate Programme in Rural Management, which is slated to be rolled out on October 2.
The platform offers real-time, multi-way audio and visual presence of professor and students, and would supplement the existing brick-n-mortar system, he said.
