Pivotals continue to improve

Pivotals continue to improve on the opening day of the current settlement on good buying support by foreign institutional investors and bull operators at the National Stock Exchange today.

Mirroring the trend, the NSE-50 Index moved up by 19.45 points to 944.15 points from 924.70 points the previous day. The dollar NSE-50 Index also went up by 14.35 points to 768.55 as against 754.20 points the previous day.

The Midcap Index shot up by 37.35 points, crossing the 1400-mark to close at 1405 points from 1368.25 points of the last working day.

The total turnover, involving 45.80 million shares in 1,53,648 trades was Rs 12.35 billion and the debenture turnover was Rs 369,000.

About 646 securities advanced, 249 declined while 86 remained unchanged in the market. Fiftynine scrips hit their price banks today.

The FIIs net inflows on the NSE stood at Rs 390.8 million.

ITC recorded the highest turnover of Rs 3.68 billion, followed by Satyam Computers (Rs 1.94 billion), State Bank of India (Rs 1.08 billion), Tata Tea (Rs 548.4 million), Reliance (Rs 510.2 million), Infosys Tech (Rs 473.5 million), Pentafour Software (Rs 413.7 million), Castrol (Rs 300.9 million), Bajaj Auto (Rs 270.3 million), Telco (Rs 245.3 million), MTNL (Rs 206.3 million), Hindustan Lever (Rs 201.8 million) and Zee Television (Rs 189.9 million).
