Rupee moves in a narrow range, ends a tad lower to US $
The rupee moved in a narrow range and ended a notch lower at the interbank foreign exchange market today. The rupee opened at Rs 43.3150/3250 and hovered in the same range for major part of the day. It finally ended at Rs 43.3250/3350 as against the previous close of Rs 43.31/32. Dealers informed that though the supply was adequate, demand for the greenback was not forthcoming. Cash/spot ended at 0.75-1.00 paise, cash/tomorrow and tomorrow/spot at 0.25-0.50 paise. The monthly premia in paise ended at 12-13 for August, 26-27 for September, 40-42 for October, 56-58 for November, 72-73 for December, 92-93 for January and 105-107 for February. The six-month annualised premia ended at 4.35. The rupee ended at Rs 46.34/37 a euro, Rs 37.98 against yen (100) and Rs 70.13 a pound sterling. Meanwhile, the Reserve Bank of India fixed the reference rate at Rs 43.32 per US dollar as against the previous fix of Rs 43.29. UNI
