Pivotals rise smartly on FI-buying; Nifty up 15 points to 1197.85

Pivotals gained smartly at the National Stock Exchange on moderate buying support from institutional investors and local operators today.

Reflecting the trend, the S&P CNX Nifty index opened at 1183.65 points, touched the day's high of 1204.15 points, fell to the day's low of 1183.65 points, before closing at 1197.85 points, showing a net gain of 14.65 points or 1.23 per cent as against the previous close of 1183.20 points.

The S&P CNX Nifty Junior ended higher by 12.10 points to1943.95 points as against the previous close of 1931.85 points. The S&P CNX Defty rose sharply by 11.35 points to 956.55 points from the previous close of 945.20 points.

Total turnover on the NSE reported during the day was Rs 18.24 billion, came from a trading of 91.76 million shares in 281,161 trades. Debentures traded were valued at Rs 2.77 million.

Today, 621 securities advanced, 356 declined, 101 remained unchanged and 45 securities hit their price bands.
