SC raps govt on drug price order

The Supreme Court on Friday declined to permit the government to implement the drug price control order till it made clear its stand on the inclusion of several life saving drugs in the list of essential medicines.

A bench comprising Chief Justice V N Khare and Justice S P Sinha said the government should ensure that it is catering to all sections of people and not only to the rich.

The court said that till the needful is done it will continue to monitor the matter and gave four weeks time to the Centre to file an affidavit on inclusion of life saving drugs in the list of essential medicines.
