![]() Govinda aala re!Priyanka Bhattacharya Music director Uttam Singh has not quite been able to recapture the magic of the tunes he scored in Dil To Pagal Hai. Witness Dushman, Hum Tum Pe Marte Hai and Farz.
Now he is back with the Govinda-Rani Mukherji starrer Pyaar Diwana Hota Hai. Incidentally, the film happens to be directed by Govinda's elder brother Kirti Kumar (Hatya). The soundtrack consists of seven songs and one instrumental piece. The title track, although not a musical masterpiece, grows on you after a while. Don't be surprised if, towards the end of the song, you're caught tapping your foot and humming along. Yeh kya jadu is another song that may make it to the countdown. What makes this song worthwhile is singer Udit Narayan's bubbling enthusiasm. Deewane dil by Hariharan and Preeti Uttam is mediocre. Kya Dilli kya Jalandhar by Sonu Nigam and Preeti Uttam again is so-so.
Jaspinder Narula's Pyaar achha hota hai shows sparks initially, but becomes monotonous soon enough. What's more, it features twice in the album. Teri aankhen bolti hai has Alka Yagnik teaching Vinod Rathod a lesson or two on the art of singing. On Vinod's part, he is content doing a poor take on Kishore Kumar. So far, so bad. The music is common fare with an odd saving grace here and there.
If you want breezy, timepass music, this album is for you.
