Producers K L Narayana and S Gopal Reddy, who delivered Telugu blockbusters like Kshanam Kshanam, Hello Brother and Santhosham, have now produced Ninne Istapaddanu, a teenage romance starring Tarun, Sridevi and Anita. It will also be directed by a newcomer, Konda, like their previous film, Santhosham, which was directed by debutant Dasarath.
For the first time in the Telugu film industry, an audio release function was covered live on television, thanks to the fibre optic cables laid out at Annapoorna Studios, Hyderabad. "Earlier the telecast would be recorded, but now we have set a precedent by going live," said Narayana. Film personalities like D Rama Naidu and Raghavendra Rao were invited to release the audio.
"It is a musical love story," said Narayana of his latest venture. He claimed that composer Patnaik would break his previous records, including that of Santhosham, with his soulful tunes in Ninne Istapaddanu.
Tarun, who had suggested the film's title in keeping with his 'N' sentiment, said, "My character is carefree and flamboyant in the first half of the film. Later, it becomes serious as I face problems after falling in love." The young actor was reluctant to reveal any more of the storyline, however.
Sridevi, daughter of veteran actress Manjula, had failed to impress in her debut film Eashwar, but claimed that her 'performance-centric' role in Ninne Istapaddanu will give her a good break. "I will definitely walk away with the sympathy of the viewers," she said.
The third angle to this love story, Anita, was also confident about the film. "Mine is a cute and jovial character," said the Mumbai girl, who starred in the blockbuster, Tejaa's Nuvvu Nenu (the film was remade by Tejaa himself in Hindi as Yeh Dil).
Cinematographer-turned-producer Gopal Reddy described Konda as a 'maker with a style of his own'. He was supported by Tarun, who predicted a promising future for the director who, he said, is capable of transferring every detail in the script on the screen.
Konda, in turn, said the producers never treated him as a debutant. He added that he had explored a new dimension in Tarun and thanked popular writer Trivikram Srinivas for his suggestions in the screenplay.
Ninne Istapaddanu
is slated for a June release after canning two more songs in Kerala and New Zealand.
