|
Fire show cancelledMovie-goers who queued up at the Cinemax theatre in Bombay to see Deepa Mehta's controversial film on lesbian love, Fire, had to return home because the theatre could not screen it since it was referred to the Censor Board for film certification again. Yesterday, film distributor Balkrishna Shroff, who owns Cinemax theatre at Goregaon in north-west Bombay, announced that it would start screening Fire and that Police Commissioner Ronnie H Mendonca had assured him adequate security. However, the theatre could not screen the film today since the film is being reviewed by the Censor Board at the directive of the information and broadcasting ministry.
