Earthquake in ShillongAn earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale rocked Shillong and its neighbouring areas at around 0242 hours on Saturday. The epicentre of the quake was at latitude 22.7 degree north and longitude 92.2 degrees east on the India-Myanmar border. The earthquake lasted a few seconds. This was the second successive tremor in the area during the past week. On December 27, an earthquake of magnitude 4.0 was recorded. No loss of life or damage to property has been reported. UNI |
