Militants enter army camp, kill 5 soldiersAt least five Indian Army personnel including a major and two junior commissioned officers and six militants were killed in an overnight exchange of fire at an army camp at Nutnusha Top in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. A defence ministry spokesman said a group of about 25 to 30 militants attacked a Rashtriya Rifles camp at Nutnusha Top late last night with automatic weapons and grenades. Troops retaliated and, in the exchange of fire which lasted several hours, a major, two JCOs and two jawans were killed and nine other soldiers wounded. Six militants, five reportedly foreigners, were also killed, while two civilians -- Mohammad Sultan and Fazi -- were injured in the firing, the sources said. This is the first time in the 10-year militancy in the state that militants have entered an army camp. Elsewhere in the valley, two brothers were among four people killed during the past 24 hours.
