At least four people, including a woman, were killed and 50 injured when militants waylaid a bus at Lungthaichara in West Tripura on Monday.

Police said the National Liberation Front of Tripura guerrillas ambushed an Agartala-bound passenger bus killing two persons on the spot. The bus driver lost control and the vehicle skidded off the road.

Meanwhile, another Agartala-bound bus reached the spot and its driver, witnessing the incident, lost control too, killing two more.

The militants fled the spot immediately after the attack.

Over 50 passengers have been injured, of which are in the hospital.

Senior police officials and additional paramilitary forces have rushed to the spot. A massive combing operation is on to nab the ultras.
