UP BJP likely to fall anytime: SP leader
Dhaniram Varma, senior Samajawadi Party leader and leader of the Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh, Vidhan Sabha today alleged that the Narsimha Rao government at the Centre had a larger hand in demolishing the disputed structure in Ayodhya on December 6, 1992, than Kalyan Singh, the then chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. He said the Uttar Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party was almost divided and the government could fall any time. Although it was an internal matter of the BJP, yet Kalyan Singh's suspension from the party could not be good for any national party. Calling the BJP governments at the Centre and in the state as "anti-farmer and anti-labourers",' he said the recent hike in diesel prices had put a heavy burden on the farmers while the closure of several sugar mills had brought thousands of workers on to the street. He announced that the Samajawadi Party, under the leadership of Ramkola MLA Radhey Shyam Singh, would surround the office of the Gorakhpur divisional commissioner in protest against the closure of sugar mills in the state and submit a memorandum. |
