Militants kidnap traders in Tripura

At least nine people, mostly traders, were kidnapped by the outlawed tribal guerrillas in Tripura during the past 24 hours. Police said in Agartala today that the militants abducted seven small-time traders from Killa when they went there for business purposes. Later, three of them managed to escape.

In an incident yesterday two persons were kidnapped by militants from Baikhora in south Tripura. In a third incident today, extremists kidnapped three people from Kanchanpur in north Tripura. Search was on to nab the militants and rescue the hostages. Meanwhile, two children were seriously injured following a bomb explosion at Gabardi in west Tripura today. Police are yet to ascertain the cause of the explosion.
