Attackers had collaborator in Delhi: Investigators

Top intelligence officials assisting the Delhi Police sleuths in their investigation of the suicide attack on Parliament House on Thursday believe that the attackers had a collaborator in Delhi.

Delhi Police Commissioner Ajay Raj Sharma confirmed this at a press conference held on Thursday evening.

"Surely someone had given them shelter in Delhi. The special branch of the Delhi Police is investigating the crime, and we would have clear picture in next two or three days," Sharma said.

Though no terrorist outfit has taken responsibility for the attack, the intelligence officials point out striking resemblance between the attack on Parliament and the attack on the Jammu and Kashmir assembly on October 1.

"In both the cases the fidayeens chose the symbol of Parliament as their target and they came ready to be killed and kill people. In both the cases they used stolen vehicles and when cornered they were prepared to kill themselves rather then get arrested," said a senior Delhi police official.

Paying rich tributes to his men for their bravery the Delhi police commissioner announced Rs 500,000 as ex-gratia payment to be made for each of the dead.

"I am willing to give one person from the families of those killed a job in the police force," he said.

Meanwhile, a Delhi Police spokesman said three persons were picked up from different parts of Delhi, but denied the arrests had anything to do with the attack on Parliament.
