Rs 1 million each for Parliament attack victims

Lok Sabha Speaker G M C Balayogi on Friday announced a financial assistance package of Rs 1 million each to dependants of those who died while defending Parliament House during Thursday's terrorist attack.

The family of the gardener who was killed in the gunbattle will also be given Rs 1 million, a statement from the speaker's office said.

One family member each of the deceased will be provided employment by the respective department as part of the package.

The dependents of J P Yadav of Parliament security will be allowed to draw salary and other allowances admissible to him through the remainder of the term of service he was due to render.

Rs 100,000 will be given to each of the persons injured in the attack.

Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha Chairman Krishan Kant granted Rs 750,000 from his discretionary grant to the family of Jagdish Prasad Yadav, Rs 50,000 each to the family of the deceased police personnel and Rs 25,000 to each injured personnel.
