Parliament attack: US expects India to take 'appropriate action'

The United States on Saturday said it expected India to take "appropriate action" following the terrorist attack on Parliament and promised all help to New Delhi on the issue.

"The Indian Government, as we understand it, is still investigating the situation (attack on Parliament). First and foremost, we think they will try to figure out who was responsible for these horrible acts and take appropriate action on that. That is what we look to them to do," US State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said.

"We have offered them assistance. At this point they have not taken us up on it. Frankly, they have a lot of forensic and law enforcement capability. They may not need it, but we will be in continuing contact with the Indian government," he added.
