Iran offers to mediate in
India-Pakistan dispute

Iran on Wednesday offered to mediate in the India-Pakistan dispute, expressing concern over the escalating tension between the two neighbours.

Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi, in telephone calls with his Pakistani and Indian counterparts, said Tehran was ready "to help dissipate the tension between the two countries."

Iran, he noted, has good relations with both countries and would be more than willing to make available its good offices to facilitate a dialogue between the two.
