Decision to recall envoy internal matter: US

The United States on Friday said India's decision to recall its high commissioner from Pakistan and cut off rail and bus links were internal matters of the Indian government.

"They are responsible for deciding what is in the best interest of the Indian people," State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said.

Boucher said, "We have urged both India and Pakistan to avoid any further escalation of tension and remain focussed on fighting terrorism."

It is important for India and Pakistan to resolve issues between them through dialogue, he said.

Boucher noted that US has listed both Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Tayiba as terrorist organisations whose financial assets are frozen.

"We have noted that the Indian government has released information that links these two groups to the terrorist attack on Parliament," he said.
