Indian peace delegation in
Islamabad on Saturday

Amid growing tensions on Indo-Pak borders, a peace delegation led by renowned Gandhian Nirmala Deshpande would arrive in Islamabad on Saturday in a bid to kick-start a dialogue between the two countries.

The Indian delegation would arrive by road through the Wagah border in Punjab.

Besides meeting various officials, the team is scheduled to meet Pervez Musharraf on December 30, days before the Pakistani president leaves for the SAARC summit in Kathmandu.

Pakistani officials said the peace delegation's visit has been arranged by the India Pakistan Soldiers Initiative for Peace.

"It is coming at a very crucial moment when any miscommunication between the two governments can ignite the flames of war," a statement by the organisers said.
