Bush calls Vajpayee, appreciates
India's response to Musharraf's speech

US President George W Bush on Sunday night spoke to Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee over telephone and "appreciated" India's response to Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's address to the nation.

The conversation between Bush and Vajpayee lasted eight minutes, a spokesman said.

He said Bush appreciated India's response to Musharraf's speech, which announced a series of measures to combat terrorism in and outside Pakistan.

Bush assured Vajpayee that he would continue to work with India to counter terrorism, the spokesman added.
