Pakistan on Thursday said it was in the process of locating 14 Indians figuring in the list of 20 criminals and terrorists wanted by India.
"We are locating them and once they are found they will be dealt with according to the law of the land. If there is case against anyone, we will proceed against him," defence spokesman Rashid Qureshi said on Wednesday.
On Islamabad's reported move to provide New Delhi with its own list of criminals and terrorists allegedly based in India, he said: "We were told by the Indian government that there existed no extradition treaty between the two countries, therefore nobody could be extradited to Pakistan."
Speaking at a workshop for journalists on defence reporting, he asserted that Pakistan had not given asylum to any Indian terrorist or criminal.
Qureshi's comments came on the eve of Federal Bureau of Investigation chief Robert Muller's visit to Pakistan on Thursday.
Meanwhile, reports said that Ghulam Hasnain, a prominent journalist who had written about the luxurious life being led by underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, the most wanted man in India, was detained by authorities.
Hasnain, who works for Time and Pakistan's Newsline magazine, had also reported on how Islamic extremist groups recruited, trained and sent Pakistani youth across the Line of Control to spread terror in Kashmir.
