Court issues warrant against Yasin Malik

July 05, 2003 22:30 IST

A Delhi court on Saturday cancelled the bail allowed to Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chief Yasin Malik and issued a non-bailable warrant against him in a Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act case.

Judge S N Dhingra issued the order after Malik failed to appear in court despite repeated summons to attend the trial. The warrant is returnable for August 4.

Malik had also violated the conditions of the bail, which required him to report at the Tilak Nagar police station in Delhi on the 16th of every month.

The court also issued a notice to the person who stood surety for him.

Malik was arrested in Delhi on February 13, 1992, on charges that he had received money from Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence for promoting terrorist organisations in the Kashmir.

Sleuths had also found about Rs 4.5 lakh in his possession.
