Twenty-two persons were killed and 19 injured, nine of them seriously, on Sunday when a bus fell into the Chenab River near Premnagar, 186km from Jammu, in Doda district, police said.

The bus, which was on its way to Kishtwar from Doda, collided with a van on a curve near Premnagar and rolled down into the river around 0800 IST.

The injured were taken to a nearby hospital, but later nine of the seriously injured were flown to Jammu by helicopter and admitted in to the Government Medical College Hospital.
