We will catch the culprits: Shinde

Vijay Singh in Mumbai | March 14, 2003 18:59 IST

Maharashtra Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde on Friday expressed confidence that the law enforcement agencies would soon nab the people behind Thursday's blast at Mulund in Mumbai that left 12 dead and 71 injured.

Speaking to reporters at his residence, where he chaired a meeting of senior officials to take stock of the situation, the chief minister said: "This blast is similar to [last December's] Ghatkopar blast. In both cases ammonium nitrate was used," Shinde said.

Friday's meeting was also attended by senior army and navy officers. It lasted over two hours.

The chief minister said all bomb scares reported since Friday morning have turned out to be hoaxes.

"The security was tight on the tenth anniversary of Mumbai serial blasts [March 12] and therefore, I think, the terrorists chose a soft target like a train," Shinde said.
