Tirupati vigilance chief transferred

Continuing action against police and administrative officials in the wake of the assassination bid on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on October 1, the AP government on Saturday transferred chief of vigilance and security at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam, E Damodar, to Hyderabad.

Damodar, who had taken charge at TTD only six months back, was asked to report at the DGP office in Hyderabad.
Naidu, his I-T minister and two MLAs were injured in a series claymore mine blasts triggered by Naxalites in Tirupati on October 1.
Two days after the blast, Andhra Pradesh Home Minister T Devender Goud ordered suspension of Chittoor District Superintendent of Police Naveen Chandra and Reserve Inspector Ramanaiah, who was in-charge of the bomb disposal squad.
District Collector Sai Prasad and DIG Sivanarayana were also transferred.
