Gathered in Goa for an introspection over its defeat in the last General Election and to draw up a strategy for the forthcoming assembly elections in five states, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday finalised a nine-point action plan:

1. Strengthen and further expand the party with focus on ideological orientation and renewed emphasis on work culture, individual conduct and organisational discipline.

2. Continue to work with the allies in the National Democratic Alliance.

3. Parliamentary coordination with all non-United Progressive Alliance parties.

4. Campaign against competitive pseudo-secularism of the Congress, Communists and other UPA partners. Communal reservations to be made a major campaign issue.

5. Mass campaigns to focus on the anti-poor, anti-farmer and anti-worker policies and decisions of the UPA government, with focus on the deceptive and damaging aspects of the railway and general budgets.

6. Expose the nexus between communal, corrupt and extremist forces, and the danger they pose to national unity,  national security and security of the common people. Create mass awareness on the worsening situation in Jammu and Kashmir and the alarming rise in acts of jehadi terrorism.

7. Continue the party's ongoing campaign against tainted ministers. Expose the double standards and hypocrisy of the Communists.

8. In-depth discussions on the working paper 'Tasks Ahead' (which was presented at the national executive meeting in Mumbai in June 2004) at every level of the party in the coming three months.

9. Action Plan for five states [Maharashtra, Bihar, Jharkhand, Haryana and Arunachal Pradesh] where the next round of assembly elections are going to take place. Strategy for rejuvenation of the party in Uttar Pradesh.
