Indian TV serial to debut in China

July 29, 2004 15:44 IST

A popular Hindi TV serial is all set to become the first Indian soap opera to be shown on Chinese television, signalling a breakthrough for India's entertainment industry.

Koshish Ek Aasha is the first Indian TV serial to be imported to China, Xinhua news agency reported.

Shanxi TV station and Beijing Nuerhong Advertisement Company are jointly introducing the show, the report said adding the serial was one of the top rated shows on Zee TV.

The 24-episode serial is directed by Anurag Basu and produced by Balaji Telefilms Limited. "It deals with the attitudes of young Indians toward marriage and family," an official with the provincial TV station in Shanxi in north China said.
