The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday sought the army or central security forces' protection for its legislators in Goa [Images] and accused the ruling Congress government of 'intimidation' ahead of a vote of confidence on March 4.

Former chief minister Manohar Parrikar [Images] said that he would send a written request to Speaker Vishwas Satarkar seeking protection for his party's 17 MLAs.

Parrikar, whose government was dismissed by Governor S C Jamir more than a fortnight ago, said he has verbally conveyed his request to the speaker.
 
Parrikar's government was dismissed just hours after he won a controversial vote of confidence on February 2. A Congress government led by Pratapsinh Rane was sworn in the same night.

The BJP has sent all its MLAs to Jaipur [Images] for a holiday in an effort to keep its flock together.
