The Delhi government on Wednesday announced that it would set up a special cell to help the victims of Saturday's serial blasts invest their compensation amount profitably.
The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the cabinet after which Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said she had instructed all ministers and members of legislative assembly of the areas where the injured and the next of kin lived, to ensure that they had no difficulty in claiming relief.
"The ministers and MLAs have been asked to tour their areas and meet the victims on a regular basis so that they face no problems," she told reporters.
The cabinet decided to set up a special cell, headed by Divisional Commissioner G K Marwah, to help the victims invest the compensation in profitable ventures.
The cell would include chartered accountants and financial analysts.
Meanwhile, disbursement of compensation cheques to the injured and next of kin of the dead began on Wednesday, an official said.
