The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly was adjourned for a while on Thursday morning after Left parties and the Majlis-e-Ittehaadul Muslimeen demanded that the House take up their adjournment motion to protest against the visit of United States President George Bush [Images] to Hyderabad on March 3.

The trouble began as soon as the House assembled at 0830 IST. Speaker K R Suresh Reddy announced that the adjournment notices given by the Communist Party of India-Marxist, Communist Party of India and the MIM on Bush's visit were disallowed.

Adjournment notices on other issues from other parties were also rejected.

Members of the Left and MIM stood up to demand that their adjournment motion be taken up. The speaker reminded them that the rules of the House did not permit a discussion on such a subject. Legislative Affairs Minister K Rosaiah also said that the US President had begun his visit to the country and there was no point in taking up a discussion on the issue.

He said the three parties had been carrying on protests in the city against Bush visit and it would not be proper for the Assembly to take up the matter.

As some members, displaying placards, rushed towards the podium, the speaker adjourned the House for 10 minutes.

After the House re-assembled, the Legislative Affairs Minister moved a motion revoking the suspension of Telugu Desam Party members who had been suspended for two days on Wednesday for disrupting the proceedings of the House. Earlier, the other parties had made a request for revoking the suspension against the members of the main opposition party.
