Doctors protesting the Central government's move to provide 27 per cent reservation to the Other Backward Classes are planning to approach the Supreme Court on the issue.

A senior doctor from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences told rediff.com on Friday that a public interest litigation will be moved against the government's reservation policy in the apex court by next week.

"The government has not been taking a firm stand and has been shifting its stance on a day-to-day basis. Hence they have left us with no option but to approach the apex court," the doctor said.

The move is believed to have come in the wake of the talks between the striking doctors and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] failing to break the ice over the reservation impasse. However, another section of students has been 'slightly' soft on the government.

Soon after the talks with Dr Singh got over, the general body meeting of resident doctors and medical students met for two hours and decided to continue their strike that began on May 14. 

The doctors will meet again on Saturday when they are likely to decide upon whether or not to approach the Supreme Court on the issue.
