Goa [Images] Democratic Alliance and the Congress-led coalition, which are claiming majority in the 40-member Goa Assembly, have sought an appointment with Governor S C Jamir on Friday.
Jamir who is in New Delhi is likely to return in the afternoon, Raj Bhavan sources said.
They however, added that the governor has not given any formal appointment to any political group, till now.
"We have sought his appointment in writing and we expect him to meet us once he is back," Manohar Parrikar [Images], Goa Democratic Alliance, Bharatiya Janata Party-led formation's leader, told PTI.
The GDA includes BJP, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, Save Goa Front and United Goans Democratic Party.
The BJP-led formation has already faxed its claim to Raj Bhavan.
"Once he is back, we will personally give it in his hand," Parrikar told PTI.
GDA claims support of 20 legislators while Congress-led alliance has 19 legislators. Legislator Victoria Fernandes has tendered her resignation to the speaker, who is yet to accept it.
Congress sources confirmed that Chief Minister Digamber Kamat, too, will meet the governor once he is back and explain to him the situation.
Kamat said he has support of majority legislators and can prove it during passing of the vote on account for the remaining part of financial year on the floor of the House.
