A probe has been ordered to find out how a television channel interviewed Mohammed Afzal Guru -- who faces death sentence in the Parliament attack case -- at New Delhi's highly-guarded Tihar jail.

The move comes after director general of Tihar jail B K Gupta was pulled up by the Union home ministry for the lapse.

"The matter is being investigated by a DIG-ranked officer," said Tihar's public relations officer Sunil Gupta.

Gupta could not be reached for his comments despite several attempts.

Afzal, in the controversial interview, said he wanted the Bharatiya Janata Party's L K Advani to become the prime minister so that he could take a decision on his death sentence -- whatever it would be. He also accused the United Progressive Alliance government of playing double games by sitting on his clemency plea.
