Tennis ace Andy Roddick may have failed to bring home a medal from Athens, but he has learnt to say thank you in Greek.

Roddick, who turned 22 on Monday, August 30, but probably didn't get a chance to celebrate owing to his commitment to the ongoing US Open, spoke about his Olympic adventure to People magazine.

'It was awesome,' the Wimbledon runner-up said. 'I didn't play as well as I would have liked, but the whole experience just meeting all the other athletes -- I stayed in the village with Mardy Fish, who got the silver medal. It was like a college dorm, with people that can run the 100-meter in under 10 seconds. It was pretty cool.'

Olympic Games offer unique experience

Did he learn any Greek, asked People.

'Efharisto poly, thank you in Greek.
